Come on in, the door's open!
I'm so excited to show you all the door, the doorknob and little keyhole, lol I don't have a video for this week. I want to add another part to the video before I upload it. So this update is just pictures.
I used 8 jumbo craft sticks, 4 per side and 2 coffee stir sticks to make the door itself. I used old fancy but used hinges that I've had for a couple years now. They were all beat up and bent but I fix them up and painted them black and I was happy to finally use them for something!
I carefully carved out a little hole for the keyhole. I say carefully because this wood easily splits so I went as slow as possible! I cut
and painted a piece of egg carton for the doorknob plate and used 2 beads for the knobs. I wanted it to be somewhat realistic so I also carved a small dent along the side of the door and dropped a tiny metal bead in it for the door latch. Added a bit of paint and glue around the latch and it looks great!
I can look through that tiny keyhole and see what's on the other side!
I know the doorknob looks a bit far from the edge of the door but it has to be there because the bark on the house would cover the knob otherwise.
