A Monster Box Made From A Shoe Box

Oh yes, that's me petting a pet monster box,

So it all started with me buying my son a new pair of shoes that came in a cardboard box like all shoes do. But this time I saw something in that ordinary cardboard box which was exciting to me because I needed a distraction. You see friends, I had lost my mojo. I was all crafted and crocheted out it seemed. I really needed this monster to fix that. And it worked! Once I started I couldn't stop...

Book Of Monsters,
I had at first decided it would be the "Book Of Monsters" from Harry Potter but once I got going I wanted it to be way more monstery than the one in Harry Potter so the box got great BIG teeth I made from paper mache and a real fur pieces that I had rescued from the thrift store and also a faux fur that I cut off of an old jacket.

Old book pages,
I used pages from an old book to line the inside This is actually going to be a gift for my youngest son who has a b-day coming up and he LOVES old books and really loves this technique when I use it on other crafts so I know he'll love the inside of this box.

Just an old shoe box!
It's hard to believe that once was just an ordinary shoe box. One day I'll do a tutorial. There's lots I'd love to show you like how I made the sides of the box to look like an actual book with pages but atm I don't have the energy or time. This box took me many hours over 3 days to make and all I want to do now is a whole lot of nothing! It's back to the grind tomorrow. It's the last evening of a long weekend here in Canada so I'll go and enjoy the little bit of daylight left, maybe go for a bike ride. Here's a couple more before I go...

So this guy is really going to be the "monster under the bed" because I have to hide him there until my son's birthday. So if my kids come running and yelling "THERE'S A MONSTER UNDER THE BED!!" I really won't be able to say it's all in their head.

Thanks for stopping by, I hope you enjoyed the pictures of my new pet monster. I think I'll name him Mojo
