Log Bed Part Two The Slats and Mattress Are Done
I was going to wait to post this until after I had the bedding made but I'm so excited about this project. It's turning our far more beautiful than I could ever have imagined. (If you missed the first post, see it here) This is a prime example of going with the creative flow when it hits. Don't ever put it off , even if it's late at night! I think this only would have come to me once and if I had missed the opportunity and decided it was too late in the night to start then I might not have ended up with this beautiful little log bed at all.
I had no plan just the desire for a rustic gnome bed. But one creative idea led to another, like the slats for the bed! I had no idea when I put the bed together how I was going to add in the mattress but I decided to just figure it out after I got the bed frame together. So I played around with a couple ideas. In the end I decided on coffee stir sticks. I was able to cut slots into the side rails with an x-acto knife and slide the sticks in. That worked out perfectly and so easy too!
The mattress is a piece of foam with fabric sewn over. That part was
not hard just super finicky. I'm glad that part is done. And I've learned that I do not like sewing fabric over foam and hope I don't have to do it again!
Ok, that's it. I'm off to make the bedding now...
I do have a facebook page for dollhouses. Many times I post there and not here. Head over and give the page a like so you can get updates as they happen. See you there!
